Hello, my name is Jinna, founding blogger and creative director of Grease & Glamour. I started this blog in 2010, as a creative outlet for the various things that inspired me as I made the big move from Virginia to New York City.
I believe that nothing in this life is one-sided. NYC was the spark that helped me introduce this idea because you see opposite extremes wherever you go, and it is this idea of converged polar opposites that makes life, fashion and culture so damn interesting. From personal style to fashion inspiration, I know that glamour isn’t as good without the grease.
I grew up a tomboy, and had more sneakers than sense. Slowly my style evolved as I experienced new changes in life, love and work. I have the comparable appreciation for my Miu Miu’s as I do for a vintage non-designer-name sequin gown. I wear combat boots and oxford flats when my ridiculously high Versace heels killed my feet the day before.
Blogging has opened up so many doors for me and others – I would have never imagined doing some of the things I’ve done in the fashion industry. It’s an amazing time for entrepreneurial minds, and each day is another chance to get closer to achieving your dreams.
I built and designed this blog from scratch, so if you are looking for someone to hire for your project, feel free to reach out.
Simply put, I’m fascinated with the juxtaposition of life. We’re based in New York City, where Manolo Blahniks strut past homeless Joe’s, from beveled marble to pot-holed concrete. There’s so much that goes on behind the scenes that no one really gets to see, and it’s our mission to showcase those so easily slept on.
GREASE can be explained as the realm in which thrifted, vintage, unique pieces reside, encrusted with spikes or chains, or where smooth structural personas thrive. Hard emotions intertwined with sultry shadows – grease is a purposeful accident.
GLAMOUR is the couture cradle and high-end nest, marked by the fabulous and adored by the magnificent. Glamour isn’t just a term describing a facet of a classic generation. It’s more than the glitzy get-up – it is a timeless representation of the refusal to settle.
This blog allows you to choose your viewing experience, categorizing all of the content through each lens. So get clicking and I hope we can inspire you to experiment with new styles, help you find ways to creatively collaborate, and convince you to express your life inspirations as well.
